The first morning of a new term has its own sound: bags on hooks, names being remembered, and a few parents lingering a little longer than they planned to.
The first few mornings
We keep the first days simple. Children find their classroom, meet their guide, and reconnect with the routines that make the room feel safe. New children are paired with an older buddy who shows them where things live and how the day unfolds.
For our youngest learners, short and happy goodbyes work best. A consistent drop-off routine, a wave at the door and a clear promise about pick-up help more than a long explanation.
Settling into the work cycle
By the end of the first week, the longer work cycle is back in place. Children choose from the shelves, return materials when they are finished, and build the concentration that Montessori classrooms protect so carefully. It takes time, and that is expected.
A partnership
If something is worrying your child — a friendship, a transition, a change at home — please tell us early. A short message to the guide or a word at the gate is often enough for us to make the week easier.
